FYSL kicks off season with Opening Day

Opening Day kickoff for Fallbrook Youth Soccer League (FYSL) Recreational Soccer and FURY Soccer Club started off with a Pancake Breakfast held at Ingold Park on Saturday.

Following the breakfast were activities that included jolly jumps, various games and tractor rides. Booths were set up for purchase of FYSL items and soccer equipment. A silent auction featuring gift baskets, each with a different theme, was held along with several 50/50 raffles. Proceeds from the auction and raffle will be used for equipment and to offset competition fees.

Sponsorship from local businesses includes Fallbrook Sports, Major Market, Designs by GMG and the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club. “We wish to thank all our sponsors in this community for their support,” said coach Paul Mattson.

FYSL, which spans almost 30 years and currently has more than 750 players, is open to all children ages 4 to 14. Currently, the league now serves more than 60 recreational teams each year and 10 competitive teams.

Recreational soccer is for children who want to learn to play the sport and attain the skills needed to advance to a club-level team. Teams compete with other San Diego area leagues.

FURY is a more intense training level for anyone serious about soccer. These teams frequently compete in the Southern California area. Many of these players have had the opportunity to play high school- and college-level soccer.

FYSL is proud to be affiliated with the Southern California Youth Soccer Association and the United States Youth Soccer Association.
