Annual 'Day for Kids' coming up

Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s “Day for Kids” is a day set aside each year to celebrate and honor America’s children by spending meaningful time with them. It’s about celebrating kids!

Day for Kids is celebrated annually on the third Saturday in September. This year the celebration will be September 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. The Boys & Girls Clubs of North County will be hosting a free Family Fun Festival at their Ingold Unit, 445 East Ivy Street, Fallbrook. Activities will include games, prizes, crafts, lazer tag, swimming and much more.

Research shows that when adults spend meaningful time with kids, it helps kids develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, usefulness and purpose. Parents and other child caregivers know that there is a relationship between the amount of meaningful time adults spend with children and issues facing youth today, such as discipline problems, violence, substance abuse and other dangers to children’s health and happiness.

All are invited to attend the Free Family Fun Festival and see what the national Day for Kids celebration is all about. For more information, call the Day for Kids hotline at (760) 728-5871.
