Restored Chevy a seven-year labor of love

Lake Elsinore resident Michael Nitz takes his 1955 Chevy out for a spin on a recent afternoon. Bought in 1995, Nitz spent seven years outfitting it with a 427 Chevy engine, Turbo 400 transmission, Ford 9’ rear end and modified front suspension. Extensive paint and bodywork completed the overhaul. “I did all the mechanical and electrical work myself and helped with the bodywork,” said Nitz, “and I designed the interior.” Nitz and his Chevy even placed in the Paso Robles Memorial Weekend show.
