Babysitter fire preparedness tips

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection offers these fire safety tips to babysitters:

• Plan fire escape routes ahead of time

• Know how to get children out of their bedrooms if the front or back doors are blocked by smoke

• Know in advance what all fire escape options are

• If a fire starts, get everyone out of the house and call the fire department from a neighbor’s telephone
