Edith May Moon Wertz

Edith May Moon Wertz, 94, passed away September 4, 2007, in San Diego, CA. Born March 7, 1913, in Indianhead, MD, she was a 56-year resident of San Diego.

Mrs. Wertz graduated from Stranger’s Business College in Washington, DC, and was a classified employee of the San Diego school system for 23 years. She was a certified member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

An avid genealogist, Mrs. Wertz researched the Moon and Wertz family trees in England, Utah and other states. She spent 30 years compiling records, which were donated to the Carlsbad and Walton county libraries. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in San Diego and sang in the choir.

Mrs. Wertz was preceded in death by her husband, Naval Chief William Kenneth Wertz, and sisters Ruth Rimbach, Florence Tyler, infant girl and brother Walter Moon. She is survived by daughter Gail Stone, Tulsa, OK; son Kenneth Charles Wertz (Annette AuBuchon), Fallbrook, CA; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
