Scholar to bring Dead Sea Scrolls to life

The Dead Sea Scrolls are among the greatest archaeological treasures ever discovered – and the current exhibit at San Diego’s Museum of Natural History is the only California stop on the national tour.

Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is one of the exhibit sponsors and Dr. Brad Kelle, an Old Testament scholar at PLNU, has been asked to give two orientation lectures on the scrolls at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church this Wednesday and next (September 19 and 26). The community is warmly invited to attend the free slide lectures.

The first lecture on September 19 will be an introduction to the scrolls. What are they? What’s in them? How were they found? Why are they significant? The second lecture will explore the relationship of the Dead Sea Scrolls to the Bible. What light do the scrolls throw on the Bible? What is the relationship between the Qumran community and early Christianity?

Fallbrook Presbyterian is located at 463 South Stage Coach Lane. The lectures will be in the main sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow each lecture.
