'Art of the Equine' now on display

The Art Center at Fallbrook is proud to present “Art of the Equine” in the Janice Griffiths Gallery. An exciting tribute to the horse, it began September 9 and will be available for viewing through October 28.

The show boasts 21 artists from across the western US presenting works in all media and disciplines, including jewelry and leather goods, plus special pieces from master artists Tim Cox, Mehl Lawson, Herb Mignery, Fritz Scholder and Star Liana York. The spotlight shines on various disciplines prominent in the Southern California region, including dressage, hunter/jumper, thoroughbred and quarterhorse racing.

In addition, the Art Center is presenting a special “Good Taste” event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26. Titled “Fun & Art in Equine Imaging,” the evening will offer wine and cheese and feature unique images, designed to “trick the eye,” created by Dr. Norman W. Rantanen, DVM, MS.

Dr. Rantanen, who has devoted his equine veterinary career to the specialties of radiology and diagnostic ultrasound, has extensive international experience that includes such great racers as Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew and Horse of the Year Cigar.

To reserve a space at the “Good Taste” event, call (760) 728-1414 or e-mail [email protected] by September 19.

The Art Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday. A portion of “Art of the Equine” proceeds will benefit Fallbrook’s REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program.
