Nurse Mags' promotes seniors' well being

Flor Ronquillo, owner of Nurse Mags’, has made it her mission to provide excellent 24-hour care for her residents, who are 60 years of age and older. The property at Nurse Mags’ is a homey residential dwelling, offering both independent and assisted living residents with warmth, comfort and relaxation.

“I felt that there was a need for this business in where I could contribute a positive change in senior care,” said Ronquillo. “Even a small change makes a big difference.”

Ronquillo, a board certified and licensed registered nurse practitioner, lives at the Nurse Mags’ premises, keeping a watchful eye over each and every person in her care. Residents have the choice of either living in a charming private or semi-private room. These rooms are also designed to assist those who are non-ambulatory.

The serenity garden gives seniors a place to relax and breathe in the fresh air. Any resident who has a green thumb is encouraged to dip his or her hands into Mother Earth and transplant small plants from one pot to another.

Indoors, seniors have ample choices of things to do. Be it knitting, board games, card games or reading, there is always something to keep one busy.

In-house pet therapy is provided by Ronquillo’s adorable Shih Tzus, Chinook and Tsumei. These furry bundles of joy give residents unconditional love.

For caregivers who may need to leave town for a period of time, short-term stays are available for seniors at Nurse Mags’. When family members visit this lovely facility, they instantly feel relaxed, knowing that their loved ones will be cared for in such an inviting and caring atmosphere. “Our residents are in good hands,” shared Ronquillo.

Being that Ronquillo is also a case manager, she is able to coordinate care with a resident’s doctor. The teamwork that Ronquillo brings into her business is impressive and leaves no medical stone unturned. “If you want to provide quality care you need to coordinate with other healthcare professionals,” added Ronquillo.

Ronquillo’s knowledge in nutrition is extraordinary. Based on the medical background of her residents, she is able to determine the best balanced diet for them. Not only does this facility use high-quality food, but they use premiere surgical stainless steel cookware during the preparation process in order to avoid any toxic chemical interactions. “I use the best cookware – it’s called Saladmaster.”

When working on her MBA, Ronquillo’s studies were geared toward analyzing senior assisted living facilities. Through much scrutiny, she recognized there was a need for improvement.

“Most of the people running the facilities were high school graduates or they had no professional training and/or background in nursing,” said Ronquillo. She reached a personal epiphany, visualizing that her own facility would be manifested from 100 percent professional care.

Giving unwavering attention to her residents’ welfare, safety and comfort remains her steadfast mission.

Ronquillo has a passion for her business because she loves people. “I love to see people heal and live a better life.”
