Hearing on power plant set for Sept. 24

FALLBROOK — On Monday evening, September 24, at 6 p.m., a public informational hearing will be held at Fallbrook High School concerning a power plant being proposed east of Pala, off Interstate 15 and Pala Road.

Orange Grove Energy L.P. has filed a Small Power Plant Exemption application to construct and operate a simple-cycle, 96-megawatt power plant. Representatives from the company will explain plans for developing the project and the related facilities. Energy Commission staff will explain the administrative licensing process and more.

The six-month small power plant licensing process, which incorporated requirements equivalent to the Initial Study process under the California Environmental Quality Act, considers all relevant engineering and environmental and health aspects of the proposed project.

The State of California Energy Commission says prior to the informational hearing, members of the public are invited to tour the proposed site (meet at bus in Fallbrook High School parking lot by 4:30 p.m.).

To reserve a seat on the bus, or to learn how to participate in the application review process, call 1-800-822-6228.
