Love those lobsters - Lobster on the Green a cracking success for charity

FALLBROOK — The Rotary Club of Fallbrook’s annual fundraiser, Lobster on the Green, held at the Grand Tradition on Thursday, September 13, drew a crowd in excess of 500 who dined on all the lobster and steak they could eat and opened their checkbooks to raise many thousands of dollars for worthy local causes.

Guests made their way through a maze of tables loaded with displays of silent and live auction items. After an extended bidding frenzy, the crowd made its way out back, where dining tables surrounded the heart-shaped lake. Earlier in the evening, a VIP champagne reception was held on the veranda to honor event sponsors and special guests.

Live dinner music and songs by Desi Relaford added to the pleasure and fellowship of the evening. Prior to the serving lines being opened, County Supervisor Bill Horn, the event’s platinum sponsor, introduced special military guests seated at his table.

All the profits from Lobster on the Green (there are no administrative costs) will be distributed as grants to local nonprofit organizations, which must submit applications each year. In the prior four years the club has given more than $150,000 to local causes; so far this year the amount is already more than $70,000.
