Violence Against Women conference offered

The Violence Against Women: Reclaiming Your Spirit Conference on Saturday, October 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is a special day of hope and healing created by local women, for women, about women in honor and celebration of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It will be a time for mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived and connecting those who work to end violence.

The conference will feature informative and uplifting speakers, a self-defense basics workshop, healing and empowering activities such as art therapy, music, yoga, Tai Chi, journal writing, butterfly theme t-shirt and jewelry-making, purple ribbon project, plus a Reclaiming Your Spirit gift baskets raffle, delicious teas and coffees and food and a fun fashion show.

The conference will be at Maie Ellis Elementary School, 400 East Elder, and is free. This event is for women only. Spanish and sign language interpreters will be available. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. There may be some seating available at the door on the day of the event.
