This Republican to vote Democrat in '08

I saw a vehicle the other day with a Bush-Cheney logo on the bumper. Does this driver feel no shame?

As a longtime GOP member, I too had a similar sticker prior to the 2000 election. After all, my Republican principles called for a change in Washington. You know – tried and true things like a balanced budget (no borrowing), smaller, less intrusive government, etc. All those good things!

As an independent thinker, rather than a party “automaton,” however, I quickly realized I’d made a horrible mistake at the polls. Feeling much chagrined, I quietly removed the offending sticker.

Unfortunately, the change in Washington I’d quietly hoped for didn’t happen, and enough unthinking party “faithful” consigned us all to another four years of “corporate rule.”

We now have a chance to reverse the direction the current administration is taking us. After all, these people in the White House do not represent the American people and the vast middle class – they unashamedly represent the military/industrial complex. Why is it so difficult for the people to understand this?

I’m not a Democrat convert, believe me, but I shall vote Democrat in 2008 – along with millions of like-minded citizens. We must put a rein on the corruption in the White House. Then I can go back to being a middle-of-the-road Republican!
