Peter Thompson enjoys the business of real estate

Prior to becoming a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Landmark Group, Peter Thompson owned and operated the successful Lomack Service Corporation. His strong business keenness and background has undoubtedly served his real estate clients well for the last decade.

Thompson has been the proud recipient of Outstanding Performance Awards and a Customer Satisfaction Award. It’s not the quantity of transactions that matter, he says, but the quality of the transaction.

Thompson has resided in Fallbrook for the last 36 years with his family, giving him the details and particulars about the town. “I am very knowledgeable about the whole area,” added Thompson.

The non-routine lifestyle of the real estate business is what attracts Thompson, as every client and transaction is dissimilar. Typically, Thompson performs a great deal of residential transactions. However, he is also seasoned with raw land and commercial properties.

“I sold my own business and I’m comfortable with listing and selling other people’s businesses,” explained Thompson, who is adept with 1031 exchanges.

While Thompson enjoys the business side of real estate which involves contracts, problem-solving and negotiations, he also finds the search for a home quite alluring. “It’s like going on a treasure hunt,” he said. Finding a client that perfect piece of property is always exciting.

Thompson’s prior business sent him all over San Diego County, so he has become well-acquainted with other nearby towns as well. This wisdom has been beneficial for some of his clients.

“Sometimes people walk through the door and think that they want to move to Fallbrook, and they don’t, once they realize that the commute might be too long. So, I can put them in a nice neighborhood in Oceanside, San Marcos or something like that,” said Thompson.

According to Thompson, it is a buyer’s market right now. There is a large inventory and mortgage interest rates are very competitive. “People are begging for their houses to be taken off the market. They are below market value and it is the best time to buy,” he said.

When Thompson isn’t delving into real estate, he enjoys being the bowman of his racing crew, as their sailboat slices through the waves heading toward their finish line. Thompson really does like his crew. “We have the best racing skipper; he never yells at anybody,” he said, laughing.

On land, Thompson has an ardor for rebuilding old cars. In the past, he has rebuilt a 1967 MGB. In addition, Thompson and his brother rebuilt a 1 ½-ton 1961 dump truck.

The subsequent vehicle to be tinkered with is a 1986 V12 Jaguar. “I’m going to do that next.”

Thompson enjoys gardening with his wife, Maureen, a retired teacher from Live Oak Elementary. “My wife is a better gardener than me,” he admitted. On their three-acre farm, they grow flowers for the floral industry.

Thompson remains steadfast in being a trustworthy and reliable agent, and looks forward to helping both returning and new clientele. He can be reached at (760) 728-8000, ext. 182, or [email protected].
