William Frederick "Bill" Fisher, Jr.

William Frederick “Bill” Fisher, Jr. passed peacefully from this life on September 13, 2007, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 3, 1930, in Jerome, AZ, Bill graduated in 1948 from Hoover High School in San Diego. He served in the Air Force from 1951 until 1955. He was stationed in Germany, where his love affair with the German culture began.

He was employed by TRW for 28 years lastly, in subcontracting. He was proud to have worked on many of the US Space programs, including Apollo 13.

After retiring, he and his wife moved from El Segundo, CA, to Fallbrook, CA, where he spent his last eight years. Bill always said that his home in Fallbrook was his “own slice of Heaven.”

For 20 years, Bill was the Master of Ceremonies at the Alpine Village Oktoberfest, where he often called out to the crowds, “Is everybody happy?” He also served as Senior Volunteer with the San Diego Sheriff’s Department in Fallbrook.

Bill loved the ocean, sailing and woodworking. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to all.

Bill is survived by his wife Heidi, son Michael (Dana) Fisher, daughter Katja (Martin) Michael, grandchildren Karoline and Michael-Ryan Fendley, sister Nancy Willis, sister-in-law Ursula Hoffmeister, brother-in-law Walter (Tilly) Lucht, many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Bill will be sorely missed by all. A scattering of his ashes will take place at a later date.
