AAUW welcomes new members at champagne brunch

The Fallbrook Branch of the American Association of University Women held a New and Potential Member Champagne Brunch at the home of Branch President Chris Young on Saturday September 15. Ten new members were introduced and welcomed by the many members attending the social event. There was also a fundraising raffle with the prizes being a painting donated by Ed Moores and a quilt made and donated by Jo Ann Rego.

The 2007-2008 Programs were presented by VP of Programs Emma Urueta-Ruiz. President Chris Young discussed many of the other AAUW sponsored programs for young women. The Directory of Scholarships, Diane O’Brien described the many scholarships offered local students. Community activities include the Garden Tour in the spring and participation in the Avocado Festival in April. A big and successful program they are extremely proud of is AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) which involves more than 20 members committed as Mentors to students selected by Fallbrook High School.
