FALLBROOK — For the opening of its 30th Anniversary season on Sunday, September 30th, Fallbrook Music Society is proud to present the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra from Hungary. This special concert launches Fallbrook Music Society’s yearlong celebration, which features an exciting and unique variety of performances, world-class artists and a delightful variety of international listening experiences.
Orchestra founder Janos Rolla leads the program which features Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2,” Mendelssohn’s “ Symphony No. 10,” Elgar’s “Introduction and Allegro,” Dvorak’s “Serenade in E Major,” and a finale of the Brahms “Hungarian Dances.” The “Hungarian Dances” are among Brahms’s most popular works, and consist of a set of 21 lively dance tunes based mostly upon Hungarian themes.
The Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra’s recordings, radio broadcasts, and international tours have illustrated why it is considered among the world’s finest music ensembles. The ensemble presents 30-35 concerts each year in Hungary and regularly tours in Europe, the United States, South America, Japan and Australia. The repertoire spans almost the entire history of music from Monteverdi, Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart to the Romantics and to 20th Century composers. The group has recorded more than 200 discs and has received numerous Hungarian “Record of the Year” awards.
“I can’t imagine a more remarkable orchestra to illustrate the promise of our upcoming season.” says Brenda Montiel, President of Fallbrook Music Society. “ Our 30th Anniversary celebration will be a season filled with great music presented by exceptional musicians such as these,” she added.
