Exotic fashions benefit women's empowerment project

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook First Baptist Church will host an exotic fashion show and silent auction event to support the empowerment of women in India on Sunday, October 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Family Center.

Models of all ages will present fashions designed and created by Karen François and Sumitha Joshua of Women’s Empowerment Thru Enterprise (WETE), India. The sale of these high-end quality fashions allows WETE to invest in the future of underprivileged women and children, in order to help them rise above the cycle of poverty and giving them hope for a secure future.

“It moves them from hopelessness to hope, from poverty to prosperity,” Francois said. “The goal of our enterprise is to teach marketable skills, provide paid apprenticeships and employment, with a savings plan. In addition to presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we also provide counseling and healthcare advice, childcare and nutritious meals so they can have a sense of dignity they have never felt before.”

In addition to enjoying gourmet coffee and dessert during this evening of fashion, attendees will hear the heart-touching stories of the women and their families that create these beautiful fashions. The fashions will be available for purchase at the event during a silent auction. Other handmade items will also be available for purchase.

Fallbrook First Baptist is located at 125 West Hawthorne. For more information, call (760) 728-7771. For additional information on WETE, contact Francois at [email protected].
