Fly to Buffalo Wild Wings in Murrieta!

Have you heard about Buffalo Wild Wings in Murrieta? Large screen TVs everywhere and “buffalo” wings, with 14 different sauces, is what makes this restaurant so unique. If that’s not enough to get you to visit then read on.

First, let’s get the name thing straightened out. Buffalo wings are not really the wings of the buffalo, but you knew that already, since buffalo don’t have wings. This name was the brainchild of Scott Lowrey and James Disbrow who, when they moved to Columbus, Ohio from Buffalo, New York, were disappointed that they couldn’t find any Buffalo-style chicken wings. So, necessity being the mother of invention that it is, the two opened a restaurant and served the Buffalo-style wings. Now they boast 450 establishments.

The owners of the Murrieta restaurant, which opened in May, are Sheila and Pinal Sitaram. Their place is only the second Buffalo Wild Wings to open in California. The couple was in the hotel business before and thought that opening their own restaurant would be fun. Both Sheila and Pinal grew up with the Buffalo Wild Wings experience in Ohio. It was their high school hangout so they spent many hours with wings and big screen televisions.

“I like it because it is different, it’s fun, and I never get bored,” said Sheila. “It’s something new every single day!”

If you want a quiet dinner, don’t even think about coming to this place. Noise is a given. They even brag about it. Their menus read: “Not loud enough? Come back on Wing Tuesdays. Too loud? Bring earplugs.”

Their menus also shout: “We can’t stand bland!” and they mean it. The entertainment and the food are not even close to bland. Seven big screens and over 35 smaller screens have all kinds of sports shows going at once – football, hockey, wrestling, monster trucks, rodeos, boxing, NASCAR, etc., etc., etc. They have just added televisions on the patio as well. Some screens show Buzz Time trivia and you can sit at your table and play if nothing on the many screens strikes your fancy. The Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar is open until 2 a.m. which means that the kitchen is also open until 2 a.m. Sometimes it is hard to find a bar that also serves food into the wee hours of the morning.

The bar area is decorated with Chargers jerseys such as LT #21. Even at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon, which is usually too late for lunch and too early for dinner, the restaurant was bustling with several patrons, both at the bar and in the dining room.

The menu is bursting with a variety of food items including hamburgers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, desserts and a kid’s menu. Their wonderful wings are served with a choice of 14 different sauces. This wild collection of sauces run from mild to hot, and are called, Smilin’, Sizzlin’ and Screamin’! The most mild is the “Sweet Barbeque” sauce. Between Smilin’ and Sizzlin’ is a good sauce called “Spicy Garlic.” “Caribbean Jerk,” which is full of red peppers and exotic spices is near the Sizzlin’ side. The hottest sauce is called “Blazin’” I didn’t try this one, but those who dare to try it are warned to “keep away from eyes, pets and children!”

The “Ribs and Boneless Wings” entrée is a half-pound of glazed then grilled ribs. The fresh-tasting ribs also have a marvelous smoky taste, which is infused in the meat. It isn’t just meat covered with barbeque sauce.

The boneless wings are every bit as tasty as those without bones. The sauce, which you can choose, makes them all the better. The Caribbean Jerk sauce is my favorite, but it kind of sneaks up on you. However, I beat it down with a gulp of iced tea! This sauce is made with a variety of peppers as well as Caribbean-style spices and possibly something sweet. The Spicy Garlic sauce is good and has somewhat of a kick but not too bad. The Potato Wedges served with the entrees are deliciously crispy on the outside with a soft potato center.

If you like sports, great food and blazing hot sauces, Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar is the place for you!
