Zion Lutheran School offers learning programs to public

FALLBROOK — “A frustrated reader is a frustrated student. These struggles will seep into other areas very quickly. When a student is achieving to his or her full potential, the sky is the limit,” says Scott Dufresne, executive director, Lutheran High School of San Diego and former principal of Zion Lutheran School.

For more than 10 years, Zion has offered an “in-house” academic-based program called Expressways to Learning. This has been a delightfully successful and popular program. They have witnessed significant improvements and acceleration in student reading and math skills as well as boosts in student self-esteem.

Many students enroll in the program to master math facts as well as more advanced math concepts or to excel in reading. These reading programs teach students how to “speed read” with high comprehension while building an extensive vocabulary. And, there is absolutely no homework involved.

Expressways to Reading and Expressways to Math are the only learning systems developed utilizing the nationally acclaimed neurological Auditory-Visual Impression Pairing (AVIP) method of instruction.

Developing learning skills at the neurological level makes achievement and long-term memory retention possible in a fraction of the time normally required for students using more conventional approaches. Learning problems begin to disappear and students become more responsible and encouraged.

Zion welcomes students in the community to enroll in this program. A new after-school class has been established and will run October through May, Monday through Thursday, with a class time from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.
