Kinnaman returns from buying trip in Paris

FALLBROOK — Marie Kinnaman, owner of At Home On Main, recently returned from a buying trip to the Maison & Objet trade show in Paris. Marie was accompanied by her assistant buyer and daughter Tracy Kinnaman and friend Debbi Peters. Debbi is studying French and it was a great opportunity for her to practice the language while helping the buyers communicate at the show.

“This show far surpassed my expectations,” Marie said. “I am loaded with inspiration from being in Paris.”

Marie and Tracy went on a total of six buying trips for the store over the summer season and feel it is one of the reasons they have such an interesting mix of products in the store.

“You have to get out there and see what is happening to keep it fresh,” Tracy said. “There is nothing like meeting the designers and artists directly.”

In addition to the Paris show, Marie attended summer shows in Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Tracy went to the large New York show in August, after spending June and July on a buying trip to South America.

The purchases made on the combined trips are arriving daily. The items from South America will be featured on Saturday, October 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., along with food, Latin music and free raffles.

In Paris, several purchases were made from a handmade pottery company. Marie ordered various kitchen pieces (with advice from Debbi, an accomplished cook). The order should arrive just in time for the holidays.
