Walk/Run to Feed the Hungry slated for November 10

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Food Pantry is joining with other food drives around the country to sponsor a second Thanksgiving Walk/Run to Feed the Hungry. Fallbrook’s event will be held on Saturday, November 10, at 9 a.m. with sign-in at 8:30.

The growing popularity of the event seems to be related to the notion that as people give thanks for their own blessings at Thanksgiving, they should also reach out to help those who are in need.

Last year, approximately 100 people of all ages turned out for the Fallbrook event and the Food Pantry received more than $6,300 from their effort. This year, it is hoped to double the amount.

It is hoped that residents will participate, either as runners, walkers or sponsors in this event. Sponsor forms can be obtained from the Fallbrook Food Pantry, 1042 South Mission Road, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or at Major Market. Many local churches also have sponsor sheets.

Sponsor forms and donations collected should be turned in during race check-in. The walk/run route will travel north through town, circle on North Olive and then return to the Pantry, where staffers will provide a light breakfast of fruit and rolls, water and coffee.

For more information, call event organizer Jean Dooley at (760) 728-5682 or the Food Pantry at (760) 728-7608.
