Those who rant against the war help the enemy

The defeatist rhetoric of some of our American Congressmen and women is an attack on the United States and what it represents. Yes, they have the freedom to express an opinion, but with that freedom comes tremendous responsibility. Their public speech is irresponsible and even traitorous as it weakens our resolve while strengthening our enemies’.

Iraq is the focal point of a worldwide war with fanatical Islam that will not end if we withdraw our forces from that country. Peace is not an option unless we win and victory will come sooner if we are united in strength and resolve.

If we withdraw in defeat, we will give our enemies a victory that will feed their fanaticism for decades to come, just as the outcome of retreat from Vietnam 35 years ago doomed millions and resulted in a revival of communist aggression and loss of US prestige and effectiveness on the world stage.

If we retreat from this battle we will be perceived as weak and our enemy’s lust for our complete defeat will be fed like the hunger of a predator who detects weakness in its prey. Anti-war rhetoric encourages our enemy, increasing terrorist recruitment and feeding their hope for victory.

The number of military casualties may decrease if we surrender, but the number of civilian casualties will surely increase as the enemy extends the battle lines onto American soil. As history has shown, for the terrorists, an unarmed infidel is as good a target as an armed one.

Those who rant against the war provide aid and comfort to our enemy, extending the war and increasing the number of casualties. Our best hope for shortening the war and getting our troops back home with the victory they have fought for so valiantly is a united America with the will and honor to defeat the evil of our time.

The terrorist elements in the world need to understand America really is “the home of the brave.” They already know that’s true of our military; they need to know it’s true of the rest of us as well.
