Acclaimed guitarist to perform in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society is pleased to present preeminent Spanish classical guitarist Angel Romero in the Bob Burton Center for Performing Arts on Sunday, October 21, at 3 p.m.

One of the most sought-after musicians of his generation, Romero is hailed by audiences and critics alike for his superior artistry as Spanish maestro of the guitar. He made his professional debut when he was only 6 and has performed in major cultural centers throughout the world, including London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Madrid and New York.

Romero has appeared as soloist with such leading orchestras as the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic and the New World Symphony. Regardless of his role onstage, his driving intensity and flawless control mark him as a true master of the arts.

“Angel Romero epitomizes the Spanish guitar tradition of vibrant, intense performances as well as virtuosic sustainability, all of which mesmerize the audience,” says Brenda Montiel, president of Fallbrook Music Society. “We are delighted that Mr. Romero will perform for us in Fallbrook during our 30th anniversary season.”

In 1986, Romero became the youngest person awarded Spain’s Grand Cross of Civil Merit. Three years later, he performed the entire score for the Robert Redford film “The Milagro Beanfield War.”

In February 2000 Romero was presented with the highest honor the country of Spain has to offer and was knighted Sir Angel Romero in reverence of his outstanding musical accomplishments.

Earlier this year, Romero was honored by the recording academy, producer of the Grammy Awards, with the President’s Merit Award for his significant contributions to the music world and for his professional career achievements.
