Auxiliary makes caps for newborns

FALLBROOK — Since the beginning of the year, members of the Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary have created 370 tiny caps for newborns at the hospital.

A faithful group of knitters, including Ann Armeson, Dr. Elizabeth Caumgart, Dottie Holzer, Kathy Dorr, Jeannine Savage, Mavis Hurd, Julie Egbert, Kathleen Brown and Janice Gaudet, keep their needles flying. Besides the baby caps, knitters have produced 135 blankets, 20 pairs of booties, seven layettes and four adult lap robes.

A few of the items are sold at the hospital gift shop to raise monies for scholarships the Auxiliary funds each year for students in the healthcare field. In June, more than $30,000 in scholarships was awarded.
