Signs of the times

This is an open letter to Jim Russell and his Fallbrook Planning Commission.

While some of the struggling merchants and businesses in our fair village have to fight for permission to get the signs they need, I now have entire huge billboards for U-Haul out my kitchen window.

Apparently someone decided to go in the U-Haul truck and trailer rental business and seems to be allowed to park them right above my backyard! The location is up behind the Country Inn in the 1400 block of South Mission.

For 60 years, the view from my kitchen window has been a tree-line about a block away. Long accepting the fact that “someday” a building would probably be erected on that property, I was totally unprepared for the sudden looming sides of big painted trucks hitting me square in the face. I can’t even look out at them.

The only thing we can do is erect a 12-foot fence and plant tall cypress to block them out. How are we going to get your permission to erect a 12-foot fence? And do you have any idea how long it will take affordable cypress to reach high enough to block out those trucks?
