Myrtle Creek to host art show

FALLBROOK — Now an annual event, the “Monday Plein Air Painters” will present their art show at Myrtle Creek Nursery Sunday, October 21, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event is open to the public and includes complimentary punch, wine, snacks and sweets. Background music will be provided by Carilyn Vice, Phee Sherline and Ken Graydon.

Participating artists will include Marialice Bopf, Penny Fedorchak, Ann Kreile, Sarah Meisenholder, Eilene Pace, Jean Shanahan, Phee Sherline, Carilyn Vice and Phylis Walker.

“Plein air” is the French term for painting outside in natural light.

The show is set amidst Myrtle Creek Nursery’s beautiful garden items, including fountains, rock and ironworks and extensive plantings.

The land on which the nursery stands is a portion of an original Spanish land grant and a barn on the property was constructed in the late 1800s using hand-wrought square nails.

Three original family houses still stand on the property. One of them serves as the nursery store.
