Angel and Nefretiri Romero to perform

FALLBROOK — Spanish classical guitarist Angel Romero and his wife, soprano Nefretiri Romero, will perform Fallbrook Music Society’s first concert of the 2007-2008 Virtuoso Series at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 21, in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts.

Angel has appeared before audiences throughout the world. He and Nefretiri will present an afternoon of romantic and fiery guitar music and evocative singing. The first in a series of two Virtuoso concerts, the program will feature compositions by Federico Garcia Lorca, Celedonio Romero, Francisco Tarrega and Enrique Granados.

Born in Malaga, Spain, Angel made his professional debut at the age of 6 and his United States debut at the Hollywood Bowl when he was 16, marking the first time a guitarist was featured as soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Nefretiri has also shown a love for music, especially singing, since her younger years. She completed her musical studies and, after meeting Angel, has pursued her musical career.

The second concert of the 2007-08 Virtuoso Series will feature The Italian Saxophone Quartet from Rome, Italy, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 20.

Single tickets are available for Angel and Nefretiri and the Italian Saxophone Quartet concerts, or they can be purchased together as a two-concert series. For tickets and more information, call (760) 451-8644 or visit http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
