Disaster assistance available from SBA

SACRAMENTO — Small, non-farm businesses in San Diego, Imperial, Orange and San Bernardino counties may now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the US Small Business Administration (SBA). These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in Riverside County that occurred from January 1 through September 6.

Businesses primarily engaged in farming or ranching are not eligible for SBA disaster assistance. Agricultural enterprises should contact the Farm Services Agency about US Department of Agriculture assistance made available. However, in drought disasters, nurseries are eligible for SBA disaster assistance.

For more information, call (800) 659-2955. Deadline to apply for these loans is May 27.
