Grange for people who love to eat

RAINBOW — Turkey with all the trimmings will be featured at Rainbow Valley Grange’s annual Harvest Dinner on Saturday, November 3. The Grange ladies will also be holding a raffle that day with the grand prize being a quilt made by Grange member Tracy Lathrop. Proceeds from the raffle will go toward Christmas gifts for a needy family.

There will also be a Christmas bazaar at the grange hall that day. Starting at 10 a.m. homemade crafts will be on sale for early holiday shopping. The bazaar will continue through the Harvest Dinner.

The dinner, including drinks and dessert, will be served by Junior and Youth members from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Grange hall, 2160 Rainbow Valley Boulevard. For cost and more information, call (760) 451-8979. Money made from the dinner will go to the Grange’s Youth and Junior programs.

The Grange Youth Fair Team invites interested children and youth, ages 5-21, to their next meeting on Saturday, October 27, at 3:30 p.m. at the Grange. Team projects include horses, dogs, dairy goats, pygmy and Boer goats as well as crafts.

In order to show animals at the San Diego County Fair next year, new members need to join the Grange no later than December 8. For more information, contact Youth Fair Team Leader Ingrid Dunckel at (760) 728-1698 or see http://www.grangeyft.com.

Once an organization for farmers, the only requirement for joining the Grange today is that the applicant loves to eat food.
