Feeding the insatiable war machine

We, the American voters, think we have a democracy because we hold elections every two years. What we must realize, however, is that whichever candidate we support is basically beholding to the same greedy corporate sponsors – those with the big bucks and lobbyists. Doesn’t it make you sick to see the ad on TV that says, “We never forget who we’re working for”?

Such baloney! That corporate giant, and many like them, couldn’t care less who wins – just as long as the dollars continue to flow to the industrial/military complex. This administration is borrowing in excess of one billion (that’s with a ‘b’) dollars per day to feed the insatiable war machine.

For the first time in our history, our grandchildren can look forward to a lower standard of living than we currently enjoy. Think about that! The country elected a Democratic majority last time and what have they done to further the people’s mandate? The war drags on in its fifth year and they don’t have the b---- to end it. They now control the purse strings but are afraid to use this power.

Although I’m an old-time Republican, I shall vote Democratic in ’08 because we must first get rid of this evil culture which pervades the White House and Congress. However, I fear that the ones we elect won’t be much better, given our electoral process.

When will we wake up?
