Pickleball players say thank you

The San Diego Senior Olympics were held last month, with the Pickleball competition taking place at San Luis Rey Downs Resort. Athletes who competed came from Arizona, Texas, Washington and Riverside County, not including our locals. Everyone will relish the memories!

In case you still do not know about Pickleball, it’s a game similar to tennis but played with a solid paddle and whiffle ball on a badminton-sized court. Described as a combination of tennis, ping pong and badminton, the game was named after a dog, Pickles, who would always chase the ball. The game puts a smile on every player’s face!

We thank Major Market, who donated all our bottled water! We would have been in a pickle without their help. Thank you also to Rio Rico Restaurant for being able to accommodate all of us for our “end of the games” celebration.

This could not have been such a fun event without all the volunteer help by all of our local Pickleball players.

Congratulations to all who participated in our games this year, whether you went home with a medal or not. It’s nice to be a winner, but the real celebration is for the good health and fitness that keeps us active and enjoying this wonderful game.
