Village News Web site (www.thevillagenews.com) users speak out

Remind me to renew my subscription with you guys. You have done a great job on keeping us refugees informed. I love all the politicians taking credit for the orderly evacuation, many of whom are always promoting public transportation. It was personal vehicles and roads that made the whole thing work. I can just hear them now: “We can’t let them back in until it’s safe.” They just love it when they can be officious.

I have learned my lesson; next time, I’m staying.

Doug Dwyer

You have more info in [your] short news articles than all of the other stations and papers combined. Thank you.

Jane Kemp

Thank you so much for putting up updates. None of the other news stations seem to find Fallbrook worthy of news coverage, and all the teens away at college really appreciate being able to find out about back home.

Jillian Levi

God bless you for the updates. Failing the Village News, one wouldn’t even know Fallbrook existed. The Union-Tribunal and others failed us, not even providing any coverage on their Web site. Thank God for KOGO and http://www.thevillagenews.com.

Thanks for the timely, detailed info on the Rice Fire. I live outside the area (Northern California) but have a brother in Fallbrook. Yours is by far the best (most detailed and useful) coverage I’ve seen on the Web. This enables me to track the fire without pestering my brother, who, like all Fallbrook residents, is at the center of a firestorm of concerns and responsibilities.

Chuck Sheldon

Thank you so much for updating the Village News site. It has been a huge help to me and my family this morning. It seems as though you are in touch with what is happening in the area. My Grandparents were evacuated just off of Reche Road and Via Chaparral and they had asked if I could track down more information for them. Thanks so much.

Greg Hong

Thank you for providing all the frequent updates of the Fallbrook fire in the Village News. We live in Las Vegas and my wife’s mother, sister and other family members live in the Reche Road area. They have been evacuated and don’t always get current updates of the fire and the possible destruction of their homes. The best coverage we have found is your articles in the Village News. We use that information to keep our relatives updated via cell phone. Your current and frequent updates are very much appreciated and we thank you for the good work.

Lee and Donna Brandhagen

Thank you for this Web site and fire updates. My family is in Fallbrook. I grew up in Fallbrook. This is the most accurate info I’ve heard. Thank you.

You are the best and possibly the only fire information source for Fallbrook. Please continue with details of streets affected as the fire progresses. Those of us who are now out of town count on it. Good work and thank you!

Sean Olson

Thanks so much for posting this fire information for us. We evacuated Monday afternoon to Pomona and are unable to get local fire info from LA television stations. Hope everyone at the paper is safe. Thanks.

George and Kay Johnson

Thanks for the ongoing updates. My mother’s house is by Potter Junior High and we can’t seem to get any information regarding the fire in Fallbrook.

Thank you for what the “News” is doing on getting fire info out. My daughter in Portland found your site and told me about it. We evacuated yesterday and are now in Cypress and thirsty for knowledge on the state of the situation in Fallbrook.

Thank you again!

Dwight Nunn

Thank you for your coverage of the fire. We were evacuated and are in Temecula. We can’t get any information on television here regarding Fallbrook. Your Web site has been a great help.

K. Kinman

I just wanted to say thank you for keeping the fire information on your Web site updated. For all of us who have friends and loved ones displaced, with no access to information, your site is invaluable at this point.

Thank you.

I’ve been following your coverage of the Fallbrook fires for the last couple of days. I grew up in Fallbrook and my parents live over by the high school, but they have evacuated. I must say, your coverage and updates outshine any other news organization.

Thanks for the info!

Michael Curtis

Thank you so much for your news. It’s the only updating we can get on our beloved Fallbrook.

Sharon Howard

(Evacuated to Costa Mesa, CA)

I wanted to personally thank the Village News for this past week’s coverage. It was difficult to find detailed specific reports on Fallbrook this past week that enabled a local focus and perspective – the updates daily were very helpful and the photos provided visual insight to what was going on while we were all evacuated.

Thanks again.

Michael DiVerde

I wanted to say thank you to the Village News for all the 411 and to all the men and woman who helped protect our homes and families in the Fallbrook fire.

Stephany Murillo and family

Thank you so much for the updates. News about Fallbrook is very sparse for those of us evacuees in Orange County. Family, dog and four cats are okay with friends in San Clemente.

Shannon Ventuleth

We evacuated on Monday through Camp Pendleton. Traffic was horrific. We kept going north on the I-5. After five hours and only in San Juan Capistrano, we called friends and stayed in Fountain Valley for the night. Many hotels filled to capacity, but I got on Expedia and found a room in Huntington Beach. Much of the local TV coverage is on the local fires. I found the Village News Web site.

Thank you for your updates and local coverage!

Joanne Leach

Just wanted to say thanks for keeping the info from Fallbrook flowing. The closest accommodation we could find after the evacuation was in Santa Ana and the only way we get any info about Fallbrook is on your Web page. The TV coverage up here is all about the Orange and LA County fires with the occasional mention of San Diego. With out your Internet coverage, we would be totally in the dark.

W. Curtis Scarbrough II

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the fire. The Village News has really been so helpful and one of my best sources on the fires and evacuations. I just wanted to say thanks to you and your staff.

Jane Herrick

We are evacuated and waiting in Orange County and I wanted to thank you for your continuous information. This is the only place I have found with current information for Fallbrook residents. I am very grateful for what you are doing.

Suzanne Larson

We evacuated on Monday around 4 p.m. and opted to stay with friends in Orange County so as not to use precious resources for those who might not have anywhere but a shelter to go. Just wanted to thank you for keeping us updated with reliable info. There is not much coverage here about Fallbrook. Rumors are rampant.

Thanks again!

Anne Anderson

Thank you so much for the updates. It’s been so frustrating that the news is not covering Fallbrook. I did just hear a report on KNX radio that someone dressed as a firefighter was arrested in Fallbrook, but I can see from your article that law enforcement is keeping a watchful eye. Your last two updates have been so helpful and positive. It’s also been great to see pictures and be able to identify some neighborhoods. You are as valuable – if not more so – as all of the services you’re telling your readers about.

Melissa Moss

Thanks for the updates. hard for us on the outside. Love the Village News!

Paulette Britton

I’ve had my parents, who are Fallbrook residents, here with me in Riverside since Monday night. Your Web site has proved to be invaluable for information. Because we are in the LA TV and radio area, we don’t get any real information on north SD County. I just wanted to say thank you for providing us with such good information. My folks are 89 and 91, and not knowing what was going on was pretty stressful for them. Your information has been just what we needed.

Thank you again for such a great community service.

Janet Lewis
