4H is off and running

Fallbrook 4H has just started a new year and projects began meeting in October. New members signed up at the October 2 meeting and heard Matt Rahn speak about the Santa Margarita Preserve. Most audience members were unaware of the preserve but interested to hear about the research going on there.

The Beginning 4H group met and painted mini pumpkins as a sample craft project, then on October 16 joined the floriculture group for a tour of Olive Hill Nursery.

Cooking, Small Animals, Crafts and Quilting projects hope to start this month.

Soon, the reptile group will have Mr. Pat Rusnell speaking to them about snakes. Mr. Rusnell breeds snakes for genetic mutations and will provide an excellent program. He has been a longtime Fallbrook resident and schoolteacher.

Tuesday, November 6, the 4H community meeting will be held in the high school cafeteria at 7 p.m. Members are encouraged to wear costumes and bring a dessert to share. It will be a meeting filled with contests, prizes, awards and food.

We will learn about basic record book forms, talk about the Christmas parade and brainstorm ways to help the fire victims. Each member who brings a friend can still receive a prize and yes, visitors can still join Fallbrook 4H projects.

See you there!
