Daniel Buckingham

Daniel Buckingham, 86, passed away October 15, 2007, in Oceanside, CA. Born November 27, 1920, in London, England, he was a resident of Fallbrook for 30 years.

Mr. Buckingham earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering in Canada and was a civil engineer, construction developer and real estate broker. He built office buildings in Canada, a hotel and high-rises in Hawaii and planned communities in Puerto Rico and California.

In addition, Mr. Buckingham served as a navigator in the British Royal Air Force during WWII in the European theater. He enjoyed golf, deep-sea fishing, tennis and painting. He loved pets and kids. He also loved to travel, had a good sense of humor and was hard-working.

Mr. Buckingham is survived by his wife of 32 years Cecilia Seiko Buckingham, Fallbrook; daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and Bob Burechailo, Salmon Arms, BC, Canada; stepdaughter Stephanie Gailey, Honolulu, HI; granddaughters Danielle Somner, Victoria, BC, Canada, and Nicole Prentice, Australia; and great-grandchildren in Hawaii, Canada and Australia. He was preceded in death by his brothers Frank Buckingham and Duke Buckingham.

Internment was held October 24 at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 2655 Camino Del Rio N., Ste. 100, San Diego, CA 92108.

Arrangements were handled by Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary and Olivewood.
