Evacuees thank Albertsons, Major Market

A big thank you needs to go out to Albertsons and Major Market for

helping my family and neighbors during our evacuation. We decided to camp in the Albertsons parking lot instead of waiting in the long line to Camp Pendleton.

Since all the stores were closed in the parking lot, my husband and I

decided to take a walk downtown to see what food was available. Major Market was handing out chickens and free water. 7-Eleven was the last gas station open with some food. The next day Albertsons manager Kim and helper Eddy opened their doors to us and gave us free food and lunchmeat. Eddy even helped me find something in the store personally. I can’t thank them enough.

The next day they came out with shopping carts full of fruit, breads,

et cetera. A few clerks did come in to run the store for the next day.

Who would ever think our town would have to go through something

like this? Fresh fruit was dropped at our motor home by some angel

as well as a person going around collecting our trash. A representative from the Fallbrook fire department would come around once a day and pass out flyers to us to give us an update.

Fireman John Buchanan came by also to give us the update on the

“boiling order.” I can’t thank the firefighters enough for the great job

they did with the little resources they had to work with at the beginning.

My heart goes out to those who lost their homes. Our house was

saved and we are so very fortunate. God bless our village and those

in it.
