Warrior sticksters 2-2-1 at Serra Tournament

Fallbrook High School’s field hockey team won two games, lost two games, and tied one match at the Serra Tournament played September 29 and October 13.

“We did okay,” said Fallbrook coach Kathy Waite.

The Warriors began the tournament with three games on September 29. Fallbrook tied Mira Mesa, 1-1, and defeated Helix by a 1-0 score before losing to Westview by a 2-1 margin. “We did a very good job,” Waite said.

The two October 13 games did not have a format for ties, and in the first game the Warriors lost to Torrey Pines in strokes after the game was scoreless at the end of regulation. “Played a good game,” Waite said.

Fallbrook faced Westview for the second October 13 game. The Wolverines had a 1-0 lead at halftime, but two Jordan Bretsch goals in the game’s final two minutes, one assisted by Mila Lee and the other with an assist from Christine Plotts, gave Fallbrook a 2-1 victory. “We ended up on top,” Waite said.

On September 20 the Warriors had defeated Westview 1-0 in Fallbrook. “We’ve been pretty close with them all year,” Waite said.

In addition to Bretsch, Lee, and Plotts, Waite noted that contributors to the team’s success included Emily Badilla, Devon Holman, Kathleen Mellano, Katie Gangnath, Lydia Brambila, and Liz Green.
