Edith Michaelian

Edith Michaelian went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 16, 2007, at the age of 94.

Edith was born on February 25, 1913, in Seville, CA, to Samuel and Ashdig Chivitjian, the eldest daughter of six children. She was raised on a farm just south of Fresno, CA, and graduated from Washington Union High School in 1931. During the Depression years she worked in fruit packing plants to help her family.

On New Year’s Eve 1938, she met the love of her life, John Michaelian, and married him on October 14, 1939. Together they made their home in Los Angeles, CA, where they had three sons, Melvyn, James and Marshall.

One of Edith’s greatest joys was a focus on living out her Christian life, which she did with much kindness and encouragement to all of her family and friends. She spent the last 30 years of her life in Santa Cruz, CA, where she was an active member of Twin Lakes Church and a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship. After moving to Fallbrook, CA, to be nearer to family, she enjoyed living at Silvergate Retirement Residence.

She will be remembered for her warm smile, gracious attitude, loving spirit, love of God and love for her husband of 48 years, John.

Family members include Mel and Sue Michaelian, Fallbrook; Jim and Mary Michaelian, Seal Beach, CA; Marshall and Judy Michaelian, Burlingame, CA; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Agnes Fennell, Chula Vista, CA, and a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Ted Georgian, Neville, PA.
