Maie Ellis Elementary hosts star party

On October 18, Maie Ellis had Adventures in Astronomy visit the school for a Family Fun Night. They set up 21 telescopes around the blacktop for the families to view the moon, Jupiter, a double star and a dead star.

The largest telescope was 25 inches round and nine feet tall. There were also two robotic telescopes and a GPS-controlled telescope.

The night began with El Toro Market selling taco dinners, followed by a very informative presentation showing pictures from the Hubble telescope and giving facts about planets, the solar system, stars and other galaxies.

Lastly, families were free to roam and view various objects in the sky using all of these fantastic telescopes. It was an educational and fun evening for Maie Ellis families.
