Fallbrook After the Ashes event to benefit fire victims

FALLBROOK — On Sunday, November 18, from 12 to 4 p.m. a community event will be held on Main Avenue, between Fig and Ivy, with all proceeds going to victims of the recent Fallbrook (Rice Canyon) Fire.

Brenda Giblin, owner of J.J. ‘Purty’ Landers Irish Pub, and Dave Fenn, owner of Chattels, with the help of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce and other compassionate business leaders and community volunteers, have organized the event, entitled “Fallbrook: After the Ashes,” which will include a variety of food concessions, 10 live bands, a beer garden, wine tasting, children’s activities, a cut-a-thon (with the help of top local hairstylists), dog grooming and a relaxation center (offering massages by 15 therapists). Donated items from throughout the community will be offered in both silent and live auction venues. Visitors will have the opportunity to bid on cruises, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding lessons, custom jewelry, art, holiday items, toys and much more.

The bands will play a wide variety of music, including jazz, soul, R&B, classic rock, funk, Celtic fusion, reggae, bluegrass and more.

A special appearance and presentation will be made by Sue Kirby, a humorist and author with an “Erma Bombeck outlook on life.” Kirby’s presentations are said to be upbeat with an enlightening message.

Wineries that will participate in the wine tasting venue include South Coast Vineyards, Wein’s Family Cellars, Ponte Winery, Stuart Cellars, Mount Palomar Winery and Callaway. Leonesse Cellars and Thornton Winery have donated wine to the event for other purposes.

All proceeds from the event will be managed by Legacy Endowment… the community foundation of Fallbrook, with distribution being determined by a committee.

If you would like to make a pledge to the fund by credit card, please call Legacy at (760) 728-3304.

Volunteers are still being sought to help with the event. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
