Veterans honored at Fallbrook event

Marines from Camp Pendleton participate in the Presentation of Colors for Veteran’s Day.

Miss Fallbrook, Kate Derr, recognizes Pearl Harbor survivor Harriet L. Holmes with a corsage at the Veteran’s Day event, themed “Honoring America’s Heroes,” on November 11 at the Village Square.

Master Gunnery Sgt. Ken Etherto has an admirer in his grandson, Draken Mock. All branches of the military were honored at the Veteran’s Day event.

John R. “Dick” Rossi, pictured here with his wife, Lydia, was the special guest speaker for the Veteran’s Day event. Rossi was a member of the Flying Tigers in World War II and served as president of the Volunteer Group Flying Tigers Association for 50 years. He displays an award he was presented with in appreciation of his outstanding service.

Pearl Harbor survivors salute while Miss Fallbrook, Kate Derr, sings the National Anthem at the opening of the event.

Rose Kelley, Cordean French and Mary Lynn Jackson are among many who paused Sunday at the Veteran’s Honor Roll wall to find the names of local veterans who served in the military.
