Food Pantry thanks supporters

On Saturday, November, 10, a group of 60 to 75 walkers and runners of all ages (with several babies in strollers and pets on leashes as well) came together and contributed in a substantial way to the ongoing work of the Fallbrook Food Pantry. Many people and groups made this possible.

First, I want to thank Mr. Josh Way and the members of Fallbrook High School’s ASB group for their help. One of their members, Alexa Morr, contributed the t-shirt design and walked with several friends at the event.

We thank the management and workers at Major Market for passing out flyers and contributing 10 cases of water, which was handed out to event participants. Community-minded neighbors Roger Kosmerl and Gary Marton handed out water at the turn-around point on the walk route.

And, many of our regular volunteers from the Food Pantry assisted by accepting donations, handing out t-shirts and providing the welcome treats of fruit, cookies, coffee and water before, during and after the event.

We thank Manny Ortega and the wonderful Senior Volunteers of the Sheriff’s Department for their work in keeping us safe along Main Avenue and we especially thank Father Bud Kaicher for his part in offering a prayer and officially starting the fundraising event.

Although the amount of money received and the number of participants involved did not quite meet our expectations (we were hoping to do even better this year than last year), we are very grateful indeed for the $5,016 given to this worthy cause. We understand the impact of the recent fires in and around Fallbrook and appreciate the generosity of all those who participated and contributed.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the members of the North County Boys & Girls Club, the students from the third and fourth grade after-school programs and Renee Milot of the FUESD bus barn for their spirit and dedication to the cause.

It was a great fundraiser and a lot of fun! Thank you, Fallbrook!
