Pala Mesa, supervisor co-host appreciation event

FALLBROOK — On November 16, Pala Mesa Resort and San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn co-hosted an appreciation luncheon for the men and women who fought the recent fire (and assisted with law enforcement needs during it) in North County.

“Our entire county was affected by this disaster,” said Pala Mesa Resort General Manager John Martin, “and we are grateful to brave men and women who work in emergency services for risking everything to save our lives, homes and businesses.”

“This took a team effort to fight these wildfires,” said Supervisor Horn. “Only with cooperation between the local fire districts, county, state, military and our elected officials could we evacuate half a million people, fight the fires and then start on the road to recovery. The spirit I see as the recovery process begins shows we’re on the way to returning North County to the gem it was before the catastrophe.”

During the fires, Pala Mesa Resort housed many firefighters who fought the Rice Canyon and Poomacha fires. Though some buildings on the property were burned, the extent of the damage was reduced by the quick work of firefighters from local districts and Cal Fire.
