Service hours add up for retired teachers

In celebration of Retired Teacher’s Week, California Retired Teacher’s Fallbrook Division #81 presented Honorary Mayor John Harris with a token check for $570,000 representing 30,000 accumulated service hours.

Six members were recognized for 9,000 hours of community service by working at the Angel Shop, Friends of the Fallbrook Library, Fallbrook Music Society and the Gem & Mineral Society, among others. Such random acts of kindness as driving a friend to church or to appointments are also considered as volunteering.
