Aulos Ensemble to appear in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK — Formed in 1973 by five Juilliard graduates, the Aulos Ensemble was at the forefront of a movement that has captured the imagination of the American listening public.

Flutist Christopher Krueger, oboist Marc Schachman, violinist Linda Quan, cellist Myron Lutzke and harpsichordist Arthur Haas are regarded among the world’s leading performers on Baroque instruments today.

Presented by the Fallbrook Music Society, this esteemed group will make its only San Diego County appearance in Fallbrook on Friday, December 7, at 8 p.m.

Across the country, the Aulos Ensemble’s holiday concert tours and “Baroque Christmas” recordings have become an essential part of holiday celebrations.

The Fallbrook Christmas concert, “In Dulci Jubilo,” will feature soprano Julianne Baird, who has been hailed as “one of the most extraordinary voices in the service of early music that this generation has produced. She possesses a natural musicianship which engenders singing of supreme expressive beauty.”

The ensemble’s “original instrument” performances have earned admiration from America’s most respected critics and National Public Radio frequently broadcasts their concerts.

The performance will be held in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, 2400 South Stage Coach Lane. Tickets can be purchased by calling (760) 451-8644 or online at http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
