Seminar presented at Silvergate

A representative for People Synergically Involved (PSI) Seminars addressed the concept of those success seminars during a presentation November 28 at Silvergate Retirement Residence.

Bob Dietrich, who lives in San Diego, made the trip to Fallbrook at the request of seminar veteran Craig Lozzi. Dietrich owns a sales and marketing company specializing in energy efficiency.

“It’s about getting what you want faster,” Dietrich explained about the seminars. “It’s about living your life now.”

Dietrich does not work for PSI Seminars, but he has been in Toastmasters for eight years and is one of the speakers on behalf of PSI.

“This class is an awareness class, being aware of your own thoughts,” Dietrich said.

PSI Seminars was founded in 1973 and presents seminars on leadership, communication, and vision. The basic seminar covers four sessions and is designed to help participants realize aspects about themselves.

“We have automatic thought processes,” Dietrich noted. “How you behave creates a result in your life.”

Dietrich cited an IBM study which evaluated retention from three ways of learning. The retention rate for those who were told and heard about the information was approximately 25 percent, the retention rate for those who were told and saw the information was about 50 percent, and those who were told, saw, and experienced information had a retention rate of above 85 percent.

“You just don’t retain it,” Dietrich said of knowledge through experience. “It’s part of you. It’s part of your thought process.”

That thought process ultimately leads to actions and the results due to actions. “Your subconscious mind will support who it believes you are,” Dietrich remarked.

The first day at the basic seminar focuses on behavior, and the second day involves emotional aspects. The first two days are on weeknights, while the longer Saturday session on the third day is an understanding of “programs” or how one thinks and the Sunday session on the fourth day investigates personal essence.
