Pack up the kids and see Schreibers' holiday light show - Residents invited to see lights, encouraged to bring canned goods for

Hark! It’s Christmastime at the Schreiber residence, and this year, their lights to celebrate the occasion are more grandiose and refined than ever. The site at the Schreiber home can only be described as a twinkling winter wonderland scene filled with endless holiday spirit.

It’s safe to say that Mack Schreiber has had boundless holiday energy over the past 11 years.

“I made a pact with my wife, Ali, that for every Christmas I wanted to build the light show bigger and bigger,” said Mack, owner of Mack’s Tool Repair. “This year all the holiday lighting dances to music.”

And Schreiber has stayed true to his holiday word. Twenty-five thousand lights can be found blinking at the home. Lit figurines such as angels, reindeers, a horse and carriage, snowmen, snowflakes and Christmas trees decorate the residence.

While their electric bill is sure to skyrocket this month, that’s fine, Schreiber says. “Mack’s Tool Repair is the sponsor,” he quipped. “Whatever it is, we’ll just pay it and keep on going.”

If the Schreibers’ 38-foot Christmas tree is blinking in the front yard, spectators are in for a special treat for the 2007 season: synchronized lights will be dancing to the beat of the music.

This is how it works: when spectators enter the horseshoe-style driveway of the Schreiber home, a sign will indicate to turn on their car radio to 107.7 FM.

“The show lasts for about 16 minutes; there are six songs.” Some of the songs are based from the popular holiday tunes of the Transiberian Orchestra. Since Schreiber is a veteran Navy man, the well-known “Anchors Aweigh” is part of the showcase.

Despite the 80-plus hours Schreiber has worked to bring his residence up to awe-inspiring holiday speed, every moment he dedicates is enjoyable.

“Some days, I’ve worked until three o’clock in the morning,” he said.

Schreiber admits that he loves the feedback he gets from his wife and kids.

“I just love when my son Mack and daughter Karli come out the first night when the lights are only halfway done and say, ‘Dad, you are so awesome. Santa will see our house for sure.’”

This year, the Schreibers added a few extra holiday touches. In appreciation of the dedication of the firefighters, sheriffs and first responders of the Fallbrook (Rice Canyon) Fire, a sign was made reading, “God Bless Our Heroes.”

“Mack wanted to something special because of the recent devastation,” said Ali Schreiber. “We wanted to do something uplifting after such a recent tragedy.”

Next to the “God Bless Our Heroes” sign, spectators will find a donation canister to benefit the Fallbrook Food Pantry. The Schreibers hope that their holiday spectacle will not only put people in the holiday spirit but will extend a helping hand by donating a nonperishable item for people in need.

During the holidays, the Schreiber home brings neighbors and the community together, adding more special memories for everyone. But most of all, it brings smiles.

To catch a glimpse of the light show at the Schreiber home, head on over to 2031 Reche Road. The lights will be on until New Year’s Day.

The Schreibers extended a heartfelt thank you to the following individuals who have helped with their holiday lighting endeavors: Matt McHolland of McHolland Tree Service, Steve Vanni, Rob Edgecomb of DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen and Steve Field’s Electric.
