PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello Everyone!

November has been a busy month for most of us. Our Chamber Awards and Installation Dinner on the third was well attended and quite enjoyable. Our honorees, Stan and Laura Neiman, Neiman’s Collision Center (Business of the Year), Cathy Andressen (Teacher of the Year) and Jeff Felix (Community Service Leader of the Year) were all, as usual, very deserving. Our new Bonsall Dude, Bradley Doke, received his honorary white hat and led us in the pledge of allegiance.

The slide shows depicting each honoree’s life is always very interesting and well done by Dave Cantrell. Board member Cory Carrier, of Ace Mobile Music, can always be counted on to supply any sort of sound system and enjoyable background slide shows at all our events. It would be difficult to function without Cory!

Our next planned event is the Christmas Party. This is a potluck dinner at the Bonsall Community Center on December 3rd, which is a Monday. Our Chamber members go “all out” to decorate the large room in a festive manner and we all love sampling each other’s festive dinner favorites. Invitations have been sent out so if you have not received one please don’t let that stop you from attending. Although not designated as a ‘service club’ this is the one time of the year when our Chamber does ask for donations of toys for local families. The price of admission to the Christmas Party is an unwrapped toy to be given to less fortunate children in our sphere of influence.

I need to mention my concern with the price of gasoline. Driving an old (1995) Cadillac Seville and normally being stretched to the point that I’m often late, the move towards $4.00 for a gallon of gasoline has had a dramatic affect on my cash flow. Besides, I do like to drive fast! On my latest two trips to the two Los Angeles County area race tracks found me leaving early and setting the cruise control on 58 miles an hour. I turned up my satellite radio, got in the ‘slow’ lane and was able to make two round trips on hardly more than a half a tank of gas! So, hard as it was for me, I slowed down and saved!

It is truly the time to ‘shop locally’!
