County provides rebuilding workshops

The County Department of Planning and Land Use (DPLU) is sponsoring a series of free workshops at seven locations for residents in the unincorporated areas who were impacted by the recent wildfires.

The goal of the program is to help residents who plan to rebuild their homes by educating them about the process before they begin work or hire architects and contractors.

The classes will identify what areas on a property can be used for rebuilding and any areas of concern, as will as zoning, septic and building code requirements.

The two-part classes will also cover common mistakes made during the rebuilding process after the 2003 wildfires and provide other ideas and experiences.

Those who attend should bring several items with them to maximize the benefits of the workshops.
