Ten earn field hockey all-league honors

Ten members of Fallbrook High School’s field hockey team have earned all-league berths.

Forward Emily Badillo, center-midfielder and forward Devon Holman, and defender Kathleen Mellano earned positions on the Avocado League’s first team. Defender Lydia Brambila, forward Jordan Bretsch, and midfielder Christine Plotts received second-team Avocado League honors.

Honorable mention recognition went to defenders Lizzy Eskue and Liz Green, forward Katie Gangnath, and goalkeeper Roslyn Reynoso.

“Pretty good,” Fallbrook coach Kathy Waite said of having ten players earn all-league awards. “We did well.”

The Warriors placed second in the Avocado League standings with a 3-3 record, trailing only San Pasqual in the quest for the league title. Fallbrook had an overall season record of 11-11-1, which includes two playoff matches.

The Warriors reached the CIF Division I semifinals before a 1-0 loss to top-seeded La Costa Canyon.

Brambila and Eskue are juniors, but the other eight players are seniors who will need to be replaced in 2008.
