The value of the Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible and authoritative written word of God. Many books tell of humanity’s search for God. Only the Bible tells of God’s search for humanity.

The Bible is inspired

The Bible has God for its ultimate author (though he used several people to write) and salvation for its central truth.

There is no error in its content. Composed of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament, the Bible speaks of God’s redemptive purposes for humanity.

1. How the Bible was written: “For prophesy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as the were moved by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:21 (NKJV)

2. God’s Word is eternal: “having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” (I Peter 1:23 (NKJV)

3. The Bible has time as its test. Time has proven the truth of the Scriptures. Even critics have to admit the wisdom of the Bible. “Sanctify them by Your Truth. Your word is truth.” John 17:17 (NKJV)

The Bible is powerful

The Bible has been banned and burned, but it still lives on.

All the forces of hell seek to banish the Bible from humanity’s reach because it is powerful showing people the Christ who can break the stronghold of evil in their lives.

The Bible is revealing, powerful, cuts to the heart of matters and discerns people and situations.

The Bible is purposeful

Over fifteen hundred years were taken in writing the Bible. People from all walks of life, rich and poor, old and young, were moved upon by the Holy Spirit, to pen its immortal words.

The Bible still provides patience, comfort, direction, power and the message of salvation. The Bible is good for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and instruction.

The Bible can be understood

While many find the words of the Bible a mystery, the simple truth is that the Bible can be understood.

However, it does take something special to understand the Bible. The Bible is a mystery to the unsaved.

Jesus reveals the message of the Bible and the Holy Spirit reveals the Bible’s truth.

The Bible is to be studied

Over 2,500 times throughout the pages of the Bible people are told it is the Word of God.

Due to this importance, we must make the Bible part of our daily lives. It is not enough to pray, we must also read the Bible.

To neglect either of these spiritual exercises is to cut off God’s wisdom and bring about spiritual disaster.

The Bible is our rule and teacher. We will accept no doctrine or teaching that can not be based in the teaching of the Bible.

Without the Bible humanity is doomed to a life of futility and hopelessness.

Through the Bible we find hope and direction for all areas of life.
